Long-distance heavy freight total cost of ownership comparison tool
This comparison tool calculates the relative costs of using different vehicle and fuel combinations for a given trip, using a total cost of ownership approach. It is intended to be a flexible tool for interested parties to determine what needs to be true for a vehicle and fuel combination to be the lowest-cost option.
It covers a variety of fuels and technology types, including green and blue hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, biodiesel and internal combustion engine vehicles.
The comparison tool comes with a set of inbuilt assumptions about various factors, such as the cost of electricity, vehicle capital costs, the cost of various fuels, and road user charges. However, users are free to run and save their own scenarios and input their own data.
The tool (available as a Microsoft Excel document) is accompanied by a user guide (available as a PDF file). Both are available for download free of charge once you have registered your details below.
