Ara Ake has partnered with Orion Energy and the Ministry of Awesome to deliver the nationwide Orion Energy Accelerator competition. Ten startups have been selected from the pool of applicants for the 10-week accelerator programme. Ara Ake has thrown its support behind the competition, which is a nationwide initiative calling for ground-breaking energy innovations that will help reduce New Zealand’s carbon emissions.
From the ten finalists chosen to take part in the 10-week accelerator programme, two startup grants worth a combined $25,000 will be awarded helping the successful individuals or startup companies to validate and commercialise their idea.
On 22 July 2021 the Orion Energy Accelerator finalists came to Taranaki for a two-day intensive boot camp with the support of Ara Ake. The innovators and startups have innovations from across the energy sector, including EV charging, e-mobility, smart grids, energy storage, and affordable energy solutions.
The ten teams representing a range of New Zealand innovators pitched their new energy projects to a panel of local experts, who providing constructive feedback before the public Demo Evening on 28 October 2021.
