Energy Analyst

Ara Ake is supporting an exciting initiative based in Tahuna Queenstown and require an Energy Analyst. The Queenstown Electrification Accelerator (QEA) is leading a project to see Queenstown become the world’s most electrified city, and to make it easier for households and businesses to save money and reduce emissions by electrifying their fossil fuelled machines. The QEA is working directly with local businesses, council, tourism operators and community groups to provide trusted advice, support, and custom offers to accelerate electrification and solar and batteries. In tandem, QEA will work with Ara Ake, EECA, Aurora, Transpower and electricity industry participants on what the design and functionality of a secure and low-cost electricity system can look like. It will work to make sure Queenstown households and businesses are rewarded for providing flexibility to the system that manages the need for any additional infrastructure investment.

The QEA aims to be a world-leading energy innovation project that takes advantage of New Zealand's unique head start in electrification, to deliver lower bills, lower emissions, and higher resilience to a destination that is world renowned and can be a lighthouse for global energy advancement. This position will work directly with the QEA team to conduct energy analysis for businesses and homes and develop business cases for electrification.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable to visit and talk to local businesses directly about the vision of the accelerator. With strong energy-related knowledge and skills, they will have a proven ability to establish effective relationships with industry and community stakeholders. Based on the ground in Queenstown, this role requires someone who can hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, lead, and contribute to QEA initiatives
  • Be proficient in project / data management, including the use of spreadsheets
  • Provide support, insights and reporting
  • Seek and lead energy innovation opportunities, within the context of QEA
  • Collaborate with the internal team, industry innovators, and strategic partners to deliver results
  • Establish effective relationships with Queenstown businesses and stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the energy / renewable energy sector
  • Proven project / data management, and analysis skills
  • Excellent ability to build rapport, trust, and strong partnerships
  • A flexible and professional approach to changing demands and ability to manage multiple priorities
