What an incredible two days at the Energy Resilience and Affordability Conference last week. The kōrero highlighted the vital role of collaboration in delivering affordable, reliable, and low-emissions energy for all New Zealanders, and how market disruption and new technologies are reshaping Aotearoa’s energy landscape.
Key themes that emerged included:
- Empowering communities to lead local energy transitions, ensuring local needs and voices are at the centre of change.
- Partnering with frontline and community organisations who know their communities best.
- Investing in local resilience through distributed generation, solar hubs, and self-sufficient community energy models.
- Recognising energy as a foundation of wellbeing - where healthy homes, fair access, and trusted advice make a real difference.
This conference is unique due to its multi-sector approach - led by the community sector, yet now joined by industry and government leaders who are engaging with openness and a shared focus on solutions.
A summary report from the conference will be published in November - we'll keep you updated.
Presentations from the day will soon be shared on the event page.
