On Wednesday 19 March, we marked a major milestone in supporting local energy initiatives with the launch of a review on Aotearoa New Zealand’s first-ever Community Energy Activator pilot.

Run in Canterbury from September to November 2024, the pilot was a collaboration between Orion, Ara Ake, and the Community Energy Network. It supported community organisations in the Canterbury region to develop their understanding of designing, building, and managing community-scale energy projects.
