The FlexForum considered perspectives on the flexibility ‘needs’ of network owners, the system operator and market participants.
The focus was describing the network, system and market conditions which require an operational response, currently and in the future.
A key insight was the capability of DER to raise and lower load in specific locations and time periods will be required to maintain reliability of supply and keep down the cost of electricity infrastructure while the economy electrifies.
DER and flexibility need to be available for electrification to be as reliable and affordable as possible.
